Miles and smiles

We thought our stay in Anchorage would be a transition phase between Denali and Seward. As with many of our pre-conceived notions about Alaska: we were wrong. The previous post shows how much fun we had climbing Table Top mountains. Today, we added a 22 miles / 37 kms bike ride along the coast to our bank of memories.
We were tired for the 2 hour drive to Seward – but the scenery was so spectacular along Turnagain Arm Bay it took twice the time!
No way we could end the day with more smiles, yet that’s exactly what happened when we visited the camp of Iditarod champion Mitch Seavey. The Iditarod is a 1,000 miles (1,600 kms) dog sled race. Seavey has the world record: a bit more than 8 days, during which he slept a grand total of 15 hours.
Our sled-on-wheels was pulled by a dog team.
And then they let us pet the puppies 🙂
