During the Gold Rush, more than 100,000 people came through Skagway on their way to the Klondike. Today, only 900 people live here, in a place straight out of a Far West movie!
In the morning we hiked to Yakatanja bay and in the afternoon we floated gently down the Taiya river – it was so soothing Sam almost fell asleep! Spotting a bald eagle promptly woke him up.

Pendant la Ruée Vers l’Or du Klondike, plus de 100,000 prospecteurs passèrent par Skagway. Aujourd’hui ce petit village digne du Far West n’a plus que 900 habitants vivant presqu’exclusivement du tourisme.
On comprend pourquoi! Nous sommes tombés sous son charme ce matin lors d’une randonnée jusqu’à Yakatanja point. En après-midi ce fut une balade en zodiak sur la rivière Taiya – tellement paisible que Sam s’est presque endormi! Il s’est réveillé solide lorsqu’on a aperçu un aigle royal.
