North Pole and Denali
Just outside of Fairbanks is the town of North Pole – we could not resist! We spent close to an hour playing with reindeers and feeding them, ho ho ho what a great time!
Then we drove 200 kms south towards Denali park, named after the highest peak in North America (you may know it as Mt McKinley; you may not know it’s significantly higher than Europe’s Mont Blanc).
We hiked for a few hours, admiring the flora and the fauna including two very playful beavers (we had to explain a few things to the kids…) I know it’s July but we were not expecting temps in the high 20’s / high 70’s in this northern region.
The weather, the scenery and the people are making this one amazing trip!
