We have embraced Normandy! We went to the town of Cherbourg and visited the Cité de la Mer, a sea interpretation center. We couldn’t do it all but what we saw was fantastic. We climbed aboard a decommissioned nuclear submarine from the French Navy; then we spent a bit of time at the aquarium, where Sophie and I petted a (small) shark. After a tour that simulated exploring the deep sea, we went back “home” to walk as far as the low tide would allow us, and we caught a glimpse of the Channel Island of Jersey.

Vive la Normandie! Nous sommes allés à Cherbourg pour visiter la Cité de la Mer. Nous n’en avons vu qu’une partie, mais on va en rêver longtemps. Premièrement, une visite du sous-marin nucléaire Le Redoutable. Puis l’aquarium, où Sophie et moi avons pu toucher un (petit) requin. Et finalement, une visite en simulateur des profondeurs marines.
Retour à la “maison” pour marcher sur la vaste plage à marée basse, où nous avons aperçu l’île britannique de Jersey.
