We left our hotel early in order to be first in line at the Eiffel Tower. Turns out we’re not the only smart tourists in Paris: hundreds if not thousands of people had the same idea. Ah zut. So we headed towards Notre Dame cathedral; much smaller lineup, the visit was worth it. Then we went to Centre Pompidou; no luck, it’s closed on Tuesdays but it was neat to see its architecture, as the building is “inside out”: all the heating ducts, stairs, etc. are on the outside of the building.
We had the best falafels in the world for lunch in the Marais district, then Mich had her Starbucks moment.
Tonight, back to the Eiffel Tower to see it in its evening colours. Not a bad way to end the Whitlocks’ visit to France!

Nous avons débuté la journée tôt ce matin, afin d’éviter les files d’attente à la Tour Eiffel. On n’est pas les seuls qui ont eu cette idée: il y avait des centaines sinon des miliers de personnes qui y étaient déjà. Bye bye Grande Dame, direction Notre Dame; beaucoup moins de monde, on a pu faire une visite. On voulait aller au sommet du Centre Pompidou, mais il est fermé le mardi; on aura au moins eu la chance de contempler son architecture “à l’envers”.
Lunch dans l’arrondissement du Marais, et pause Starbucks pour Mich!
Ce soir, retour à la Tour Eiffel pour la voir dans sa splendeur de nuit, une bonne manière de finir nos vacances avec les Whitlocks.
