Tourists or travellers? No debate today, we were unabashedly tourists on our first day in Paris with the Whitlocks! We went skating in the Grand Palais, trying to avoid fellow skaters while gazing at the Art Deco architecture. Then we headed to the Eiffel Tower but couldn’t climb up as a few hundreds (thousands?) people had decided this was a good idea too. So we hopped on a bateau-mouche for a cruise on the Seine (bonus: it was warm inside). To add one more “must” to our list, we climbed up the Arc de Triomphe and had a magnifique view of Paris. The kids and I took the metro back to our hotel while the girls went shopping on the Champs-Élysées (Greg and Bradley quickly bailed out). Not done with the Paris tourist clichés, we had a great meal in a little bistro, followed by a raid in a French bakery. Quelle belle journée!

Pour notre première journée à Paris avec les Whitlocks, on ne s’est pas cassé la tête. Déambuler sans but précis ou encore s’assoir à un café pour regarder passer les gens? Pas aujourd’hui! Ce fut la chasse aux “musts”, pour le plus grand plaisir de tous!
Nous avons débuté avec du patinage dans le Grand Palais, qui nous a ébloui par son architecture Art Déco. Nous nous sommes ensuite dirigés vers la Tour Eiffel mais les files d’attente nous ont laissé froid. Pour se réchauffer, on a fait une croisière en bateau-mouche, suivie de la visite de l’Arc de Triomphe et de son panorama superbe sur la ville. Les enfants et moi sommes revenus à l’hôtel pendant que le reste du groupe faisait du window-shopping sur les Champs-Élysées.
Pour terminer la journée en beauté: un souper sympa dans un petit bistro et une dégustation de pâtisseries. Paris, on t’aime!
