(from Michelle) The evolution of gingerbread houses… first I glued the houses together with melted sugar (I only managed to burn two of my fingers)… second, we made WAY TOO much icing (the royal icing didn’t quite work, so I’m glad I had butter icing as an alternative)… then we ate way too much candy (oops, I meant to say “decorated the houses”)… then we ran around outside to come down from our sugar high. It was great to have Sophie’s friend Julia join us for the festivities, and it is really beginning to look a lot like Christmas in our house!

On ne pouvait pas manquer à la tradition: aujourd’hui, on a confectionné les maisons en pain d’épices! Pas moyen de trouver des biscuits Graham ou l’ingrédient magique pour le glaçage, ça fait rien, on s’est débrouillé. Mich s’est brûlée à quelques reprises, c’est dangereux la construction. Les enfants et leur amie Julia ont gardé quelques bonbons pour les maisons au lieu de les manger, on les a fait courir dehors après pour évacuer le sucre 🙂 Ca met dans l’esprit des Fêtes!
